The attack took place at Bir Hakeim, near the Eiffel Tower, France’s Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin told reporters at the scene on Saturday night. He said that the man arrested was a French citizen previously known to intelligence services. The minister said he had been told by police that the attacker had reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the assault. CNN —Lyon head coach Fabio Grosso was left “seriously injured” and with pieces of glass stuck in his head after projectiles were thrown at the soccer team’s bus ahead of a Ligue 1 game against Marseille on Sunday. “Coach Fabio Grosso and his assistant Raffaele Longo were directly hit and seriously injured in the face during this attack,” the club statement said. “We had a coach who’s got blood coming out of his head, he’s got pieces of glass stuck in his head, and he must have taken some contact to his head,” Lyon president John Textor told Prime Video Sport France about Grosso’s condition. Darmanin also said that, as well as throwing projectiles at the Lyon team’s bus, Marseille fans had also attacked opposing supporters. Paris CNN —A teacher was killed Friday and several people injured in a knife attack at a public school in Arras, northern France, according to CNN affiliate BFMTV. A worker at the school is in critical condition after receiving several stab wounds and a second teacher was wounded less seriously, BFMTV reported. The attack occurred in the Gambetta High School at around 11 a.m. local time (5 a.m. According to BFMTV, the suspect is a 20-year-old man of Chechen origins who cried “Allahu Akbar” during the attack. French President Emmanuel Macron is traveling to the public school where the attack occurred, according to the Elysee Palace.
